United DFC Need to Know - May 12-19, 2021

Welcome to United DFC’s weekly Need to Know newsletter. Our aim is to keep you informed about everything that is going on inside the club. Watch for your update every Wednesday!

Extended Break Technical Program

As we adapt to the latest COVID-19 restrictions and hope for a quick Return To Play we want to assure all of our players, coaches and parents in the United DFC family that you remain very much in the thoughts of the Technical Staff.

On Tuesday May 4 we rolled out Weeks 1 and 2 of our four-week long fitness program to help the players stay in condition during this Extended Break.

We launched our Technical Program to help the girls and boys stay on the ball and engaged in the Beautiful Game. So here’s how it works:

  • There is an Extended Break Technical Program schedule document that you have been provided with here which shows an itinerary for each week linked to three special Ball Mastery videos.
  • These Ball Mastery videos are split into Parts One, Two and Three and you can find them on the new United DFC YouTube Channel by clicking here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqoqdIUfYKeePYue5qBDLzg
  • In that Technical Program document we have designed seven special Technical Challenges for the players to attempt, master and complete.
  • The players have the option of showing us how good they are getting by sending video to info@udfc.ca or their Team Head Coach. These videos will be entered into a special weekly prize draw so the players have a chance to be rewarded for their dedication.

Nova Scotia Public Health Restrictions- Update to Members

United DFC is committed to maintaining communication with our members during these uncertain times. We remain optimistic that the current public health guidelines will be effective and that our programming will resume in the very near future.

Due to the current Public Health measures, we recognize this may result in the cancelation of training sessions and games. United DFC has numerous programs and every program has different start and end dates. If required, a decision to issue pro-rated credits for missed sessions will be made at or near the end of the scheduled summer season. We are delaying this process in the event of future interruptions or program modifications due to Public Health measures. All pro-rated credits will be issued on a program by program or team by team

basis as may be applicable.

If you are concerned about participation in soccer as a result of COVID-19 and would like to have your registration fees refunded, please email info@udfc.ca. All refunds are subject to a credit card processing fee. Once public health restrictions have been lifted and we have returned to play all refunds will be subjected to United DFC refund policy. Please be advised that should you change your mind and decide to re-register later in the season you may be subject to a $50 late registration fee .

Due to current health restrictions the office is currently closed to the public.

The office phone will be answered during the following times:

Monday 11am-6pm

Tuesday 11am-7pm

Wednesday 11am-6pm

Thursday 11am-5pm

Friday 11am-5pm

Online orders can still be processed however curb side pick-up will not be available until the office reopens.

Our next update will be near the current restriction end date of May 20 or if Public Health

Calling all Photographers!

Last spring we were excited to offer a free photography session for members who wanted to take professional looking photos of our club teams and players. Our 2020 course was cancelled due the spring covid shut down but we are planning to offer the session again. We are not sure when we will be able to physically gather for the session but if you are interested in learning how to use your DSLR (exchangeable lens) camera to take amazing action shots please complete this google form and we will be in touch as soon as we are allowed to run the session. https://forms.gle/7UB1HLzxp5gyst4B8

Special thanks to club photographer, Paul Morris, who will lead this session.

Just Dance Waka Waka Update- for all families

As mentioned in a previous Need to Know, our club will be pulling together a special video of our players doing the “Waka Waka World Cup” dance. It will be a lot of fun. Below is a link of actual people doing the dance and we hope to have all teams and levels of our club represented in our club video. Practice at home and when we can be together we'll make it happen.

Summer Registration Closing Dates

In light of the recent Public Health restrictions we have made the decision to extend the registration deadlines for the following programs:

  • U13 - U18 AA registration closes - May 21
  • U13 - U18 A/B registration closes - May 21
  • U12 C and U10 C registration closes - May 21
  • Mini Programs registration closes - May 21
  • Skills Centre registration closes - May 21

Please register on time! United DFC has implemented a late fee of $50 for all registrations that are processed after the program registration deadline (where space allows). Our programs, facilities and schedules are delivered based on actual registration numbers. Late registrations present real challenges to our organization. The late registration fees will be applied to all late registrations and are non-refundable.

Summer Day Camps - Sneak Peek

United DFC is excited to bring back summer day camps for our members. We are planning to alternate the camp between the Cole Harbour High and Dartmouth High fields. Keep an eye out for further details in an upcoming Need to Know and on Social Media.
